We'd love to meet you.
There are no meetings on storm days.
Gerry Higgins wasn't sure he wanted to attend a Toastmasters meeting. But his wife had informed him that he was going - and he knew he better do what she said. Elizabeth knew that Gerry needed help when it came to speaking up in some organizations he was a member of. At work, he was okay. But at church and other meetings, his knees would knock, he'd shake, and he'd turn red in the face every time he had to talk.
When Gerry got to the building, he almost turned back to head out the door. But a Toastmaster grabbed him and led him into the meeting room. What he saw at the meeting amazed him. He learned that others had been as scared as he was. And yet, after only a few months, they were giving speeches and looking calm and professional.
Gerry signed up. And he quickly learned how to transform his fear into excitement.
Within only a short time, Gerry had improved his public speaking so much that he was leading workshops and speaking before crowds. Yes, he still had that "excitement" before speaking. But he'd conquered his fear enough that no one could tell.
Gerry isn't the only Toastmaster who was scared stiff. Brian Shanks was also terrified to talk in public. Now, just like Gerry, he's speaking out and people are amazed at his presentation skills.
Find out where we meet so, like Gerry and Brian, you can find out what Toastmasters is all about.
